Many of our students in Groups 2-5 have volunteered to organize and implement a Thanksgiving Day Pancake Breakfast for the homeless on Thanksgiving Morning.

The kids voted on this project and have decided on the following menu:

- pancakes
- eggs
- juice/coffee

In addition to preparing and serving breakfast, our students discussed the importance of interacting with these guests and decided to include playing games and cards with them during and after the breakfast.

The children are involved in ALL aspects of the project including purchasing the food, setting up, cooking, serving, entertaining the guests, and cleaning up. We’ve also invited our high school alumni to help with this as well to assist our current Foundations School Community kids. Many of our teachers will be there too.

Every year we hold a special book sing at F.S.C. in conjunction with our annual book fair. Instilling the love of reading in our children is a key part of our program and this is a great way for them to assist in growing our library.

The FSC Book Fair is the primary fundraiser for the school library, adding books to our collection from lists submitted by the teachers and tied to our children’s curriculum.

At the 2009 book sing in addition to singing songs and musical performances the students and parents enjoyed a skit performed by teachers and staff.
