National Accreditations
Foundations maintains superior standards because we believe in providing the best for our families. It is rare to find a school maintaining more than one.
NAEYC, AdvancED & SACS/CASI
Foundations School earned the prestigious National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation in 2005. Currently only the top 6% of licensed child care centers in the nation achieve this accreditation.(Only 2% of total childcare providers hold NAEYC if you include home based care.)
In addition, the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS) accredited Foundations with the AdvancED Standards for Quality mark of distinction, which requires an evolution in continuous improvement in a relentless pursuit of excellence.
These accreditations require an ongoing comprehensive process of internal self-study and external professional standards review to verify compliance with over 400 NAEYC criteria and SACS-CASI standards. For more information on SACS-CASI accreditation, visit http://www.sacscasi.org/, and visit http://www.naeyc.org/ for more information on the NAEYC accreditation.
Environmental Efforts
Cobb County Green School Award
The Green School Initiative is a program of the Cobb County Water System Watershed Education and Water Efficiency Programs, Cobb County Parks and Recreation Natural Resources Unit, and The Keep Cobb Beautiful Program. The purpose of the Green School Initiative is to recognize schools in Cobb County with an active environmental education program. The primary focus of the program is conservation, preservation, and beautification of our environment. The program annually recognizes Cobb County Classrooms and Schools that have met the Green School requirements. These schools will be recognized for participating in activities that promote good environmental stewardship. Foundations for the Future has received this recognition in the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years, and will continue to promote environmental efforts each year.
National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat Nature Trail Area
Part of Foundations’ two acres of outdoor play space includes a nature trail area certified by the National Wildlife Federation. This area includes all the essentials to make it a haven for wildlife:
- Food Sources – Native plants, seeds, fruits, nuts, berries, nectar
- Water Sources – Birdbath, pond
- Places for Cover – Thicket, rockpile, birdhouses
- Places to Raise Young – Dense shrubs, vegetation, nesting boxes, small pond
- Sustainable Gardening – Mulch, compost, rain garden, chemical-free fertilizer
The students are slowly adding native plants and mounting birdhouses to attract a variety of Georgia animals. They are actively involved on caring for this space and enjoying it on a weekly basis.
